HEARTWORM, FLEA, AND TICK SEASON

Minimally, flea and tick medications should be started March 1st  and continue through fall until there is a heavy frost.  

However, with climatic changes and after discussions with many clients, we have decided to recommend flea and

tick prevention be continued year round for optimal protection. 

 Heartworm medication should be started on or before May 1st and be continued through December.  

 If you travel to warmer clients in the winter, your pets should be on heartworm prevention and flea and tick medications year round.  

We recommend heartworm testing at least every other year when your pet is on preventative and annually if you choose not to use preventative.
